Recently, James Cropper, a global market leader in advanced materials and paper products, announced its latest sustainable solution for the beverage industry: molded fiber caps and bases for bottles.
Caps and Bases Made from Colourform - James Cropper's Innovative Molded Fiber
Specifically designed for the champagne and whisky markets, a first in the industry, the caps and bases are made from Colourform - James Cropper's innovative thermoformed molded fiber. Custom-molded to fit the shape of the bottle, these caps and bases are placed within a rigid box to ensure perfect product protection during transportation.
Replacing traditional plastic and foam components, these advanced fiber products have been developed to help brands get ahead of the European Commission’s packaging waste management proposal, which states that (a) all packaging must be recyclable by 2030, and (b) the weight and volume of packaging must be reduced to the minimum necessary while still ensuring functionality.
Not only do Colourform inserts help brands reduce or even eliminate unsustainable materials from their supply chains, but the caps and bases are also five times lighter than alternative materials, effectively reducing carbon emissions.
Additionally, to meet sustainable packaging criteria, the caps and bases are 100% recyclable, requiring no disassembly, making it easy for consumers to dispose of them quickly and correctly through household recycling methods.
Originally a paper manufacturer, James Cropper is now a leading choice for pioneering material solutions. The launch of the caps and bases is the latest addition by James Cropper to the luxury beverage market, including the 'Chalk Wrap' for Maison Ruinart champagne and custom-molded fiber wraps developed for Bruichladdich whisky bottles.
Scott Jones, Head of Moulded Fibre at James Cropper, stated:
"The new caps and bases have been born from our collaboration with luxury brands who share our vision of the highest quality packaging without ever compromising on function or style."
As with all James Cropper Colourform products, the caps and bases are available in white, black, or custom colors. Clients can also choose to emboss or deboss their logos to enhance the consumer experience.
Scott Jones further added:
“We are committed to creating packaging that does no harm to the environment while providing brands and consumers with the best possible product experience and contributing to a more sustainable future.”
The new caps and bases will be launched in early September 2024.
